Football Manager – It’s Never Lost Its Appeal

Posted on July 14, 2017 at 1:59 pm

Football Manager is an on-going series of games that release new versions each year, to coincide with each season. Many football fans dream of what it would be like to run a football team, managing it on a day to day basis and picking the players. That dream can be realised with Football Manager and it’s one of the reasons the game continue to be popular with each season that goes by.

In the game, the player picks an initial team and buys and sells players. It’s a game of tactics – you decide on how you want your team to play and how they are going to be able to win matches for you. The gamer is given total control as the manager. Characters are real players, making the game more relatable. The information they use is so sophisticated, some football teams will even consult Football Manager’s database to help with team recruitment!

Posted on July 18, 2016 at 1:07 pm

Pokemon go has made its way to the shores of the UK in just the last week, and it has attracted a lot of attention by the media and the public for what behaviour it has inspired from its users. There have been reports abounding of people going to extraordinary lengths in order to find rare varieties of Pokemon.

So what is Pokemon Go? Well, if you’ve not actually heard anything about it yet, there are a few important attributes of the game that sets itself apart from other games, and you should know about these. Firstly, it is a mobile game, but in more ways than the typical sense of the term. It is a game

Firstly, it is a mobile game, but in more ways than the typical sense of the term. It is a game that interfaces with the real world; it overlaps Pokemon onto the real environment, that you need to see and capture by directing your phone at the Pokemon and launching Pokeball’s. It requires you to walk around in the real world to find and capture all of the 150 Pokemon available. Even when you find or produce an egg, you will have to walk a certain distance before it hatches.

Besides this attribute, that is sure to please many people who worry about the sedentary aspect of gaming, the game is also quite fun.

Upcoming Games in 2016

Posted on June 21, 2016 at 3:30 pm

We’ve just passed the halfway point for the 2016 calendar, but in the gaming world, we still have a lot of games to look forward to being released.

In what is left of 2016, there are still a number of standout games titles. No Man’s Sky, the widely anticipated survivalist exploration sci-fi game, after a 3 year wait, is expected to be released on the 9th of August. Deus ex:Mankind Divided, the next in the Deus Ex saga, will also be released in August. Recore, an Xbox one exclusive (and windows 10 computers) is also a great looking game that will be released early September. Of course, we also have the Gears of War franchise releasing Gears of War as another Xbox exclusive. Lastly, we have the Battlefield 1 game that will be released on October 21, which rounds out our list of highly anticipated games in 2016 that have yet to be released.

Developers Release First Images of Final Fantasy XV Environment

Posted on May 19, 2016 at 2:07 pm

The hotly anticipated Final Fantasy XV game is just a few months away from being released, and part of Square Enix’s efforts to promote the game ahead of its release, they’ve given everyone one a sneak peak of what to expect from the world environment. What their trailer shows us is that they’ve prepared a world that is as rich and varied in geography and architecture as virtually any other game out there, and, as you would expect from a Final Fantasy game, with some truly cinematic graphics going hand in hand.

With the game having such a long development process, some of the initial excitement at the announcement of the release of the fifteenth game in the series has waned recently. While this isn’t guaranteed to completely make up for the close to 10 years from its initial announcement and its actual delivery, it is clear that that time has been well spent on ensuring that the graphics quality is world class and that the size of the map is huge. The only thing left to concern ourselves with is whether or not the story and combat is able to meet or exceed our expectations.

Horizon Zero Dawn vs FarCry Primal

Posted on March 17, 2016 at 10:23 am

Two upcoming games are generating a lot of interest within the gaming community; Horizon Zero Dawn and FarCry Primal. I make a note of placing them side by side because they seem to share a lot of similarities. Horizon Zero Dawn has yet to be released, so these similarities could be pretty superficial.

Both of these games are set in a prehistoric era, but with some important differences. FarCry provides a more realistic image of the time, where you play as a hunter who is working his way up the ranks to become a tribal leader. It includes inter-tribal conflict, training/taming of wild animals, and organised hunting trips between you and NPC’s.

Zero dawn is also set in a prehistoric era, but with a massively important difference. Namely, the monsters in the game aren’t biological but machine. Killing them will give you a lot of resources that could see you firing explosive arrows and laying explosive trip wires.
